Miracles Happen

I can't believe it I am actually writing this blog entry, but my book the Miracle Maker is going to be published. *** JUMPING FOR JOY AND OVERCOME BY FITS OF HYSTERICAL LAUGHTER ***
I just found out March 30. I was so shocked I fell off the couch, and then I started running around yelling, "Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh." I scared my husband to death as I ran through our bedroom so early in the morning. He wondered which one of our children had cut off what appendage. Happily relived both that we don't have an emergency room visit, and that the book will be published, we are both enjoying the good hews.
For any of you who are scouting blogs like I do to see the process, let me just say that this has been in the works for a number of years. Thanks to a great critique group at the Northewest ANWA retreat I was able to revise it and then send it to a few places for some great comments, but rejections none the less.
Finally after seven months at the publishing company I got that email that made me sing and dance. I always wondered what that moment felt like. The one when someone says "yes" to that thing you've been dreaming of for years. Surreal at this point, but exciting. I can't stop grinning.Hopefully, as I start to work more on this project and especially when I can hold it in my hands I'll be albe to stop checking the notice over and over to see if I read it wrong.
Thanks to all of the people who taught me so much on the road here, and I look forward to all those who will teach me so much more in the coming months.

Hello again...

Well it seems like months since I have blogged, well I guess it actually hasn't been too far off that. So what have I been doing instead of thinking up crazy twisted Christmas Carols? I have been experiencing the miracle of life, and believe me it isn't as beautiful as people say. No, I have not started my ususal nine month cycle of vomitting up every imaginable food sorce, but I have been experiencing the pitter patter of little feet. Thirty two of them to be exact. I am the proud, I'm not sure the title for this, not mother, not grandmother, I guess maybe fairy dog-mother might work, of eight beautiful little puppies. I am also the new spokes person for the spay and neuter movement, because the miracle of life is not just gross, but at five weeks they have gotten very busy.
I know there are some our there that judge and say it is irrisponsible to not spay a pet,and I do agree, but life has not gone at all like I planned this last year and this is yet another testament to that fact. In my defense, I am a very responsible pet owner and our little dog is, well I guess was, as close to a nun as I could possibly imagine, and frankly her fence climbing foot high romeo popped in at precisely the five minute break from her housebound heat induced ten prison sentence. I still could shoot that little guy, but hubby says I can't do that legally.
Anyway, in short dogs will be dogs and now I have a housefull to say the least. Oh, and yes, mommy has an appointment at the vets for an important operation very soon. My dream of having her bred with a beagle or a puggle is squashed beneath a huge pile of water sacks, placenta, and trying to rub life into a few little puppies who tried very hard not to cooperate.
They are a darling lot though and believe it or not I have them all almost house trained. I know, I may be an idiot about the lengths a dog will go to for reproduction, but I try to make up for it in making great little pets out of my consequences. Well, since it is about time for another round of feeding and then outside time, I will leave you with the link for their own little blog. I made it for potential parents so they could get an idea of their funny little personalities. You can see that, although this is another chapter of a crazy life, this one has been filled with little wagging tails and sloppy puppy kisses. Wether or not you are a dog lover you have to admit these guys are pretty darn cute. http://doggonegoodhome.blogspot.com/

Fun twist on the Twelve Days of Christmas song

Just wanted to share a little rewrite I made to a great Christmas Song. I changed the words of the Twelve Days of Christmas to The Twelve Days Till Christmas. We did this as a skit last night at a Relief Society Party. It was really fun and easy to prepare.
The words are all sung to the same tune until after KIDS OUT OF SCHOOL, then they are just spoken as each part gets to the point where it changes from the initial task.

Twelve days till Christmas, there’s such a lot to do

Like finding the perfect tree

11 days till Christmas, there’s such a lot to do

Hanging up the lights
And finding the perfect tree

10 day s till Christmas, there’s such a lot to do

Gifts that are home made

Hanging up the lights

And finding the perfect tree

9 days till Christmas, there’s such a lot to do
Holiday baking

Gifts that are home made

Hanging up the lights

And finding the perfect tree

8 days till Christmas, there’s such a lot to do

( EVERYONE) KIDS OUT OF SCHOOL (tune of five golden rings)

Holiday Baking

Gifts that are home made

Trying to hang up these stupid lights

And finding the perfect tree

7 days till Christmas, there’s such a lot to do
Company arriving

KIDS OUT OF SCHOOL

Holiday baking

Of course I have enough time to make everyone a pair of pajamas

Now they’re blinking, have they always done that?

And finding the perfect tree

6 days till Christmas, there’s such a lot to do.

Shopping, shopping, shopping

Company arriving

KIDS OUT OF SCHOOL

Still doing the baking

Why’d I want them home made?

Now the other half is blinking.

And finding the perfect tree

5 days till Christmas, there’s such a lot to do

Mailing Christmas Cards

Shopping, shopping, shopping

You mean we’re going to have your whole family here?

KIDS OUT OF SCHOOL

Is Fruitcake supposed to bounce?

What was I thinking?

Don’t we have another extension cord?

And finding the perfect tree

4 days till Christmas, there’s such a lot to do

Cleaning up the house

Mailing Christmas Cards

Getting tired of shopping

Company still arriving (Sounding annoyed)

KIDS OUT OF SCHOOL

Baking all these cookies

(CRYING) I just wanted to make them something special.

The front one’s are on, now the back ones are off

And finding the perfect tree

3 days till Christmas, there’s such a lot to do

Wrapping all the presents

Cleaning up the house

Addressing all these cards

I can’t believe how many people are shopping

No, no, of course you can stay with us. I’m sure the twins won’t mind sleeping in the garage

KIDS OUT OF SCHOOL

(Weary Sounding) Holiday baking

I wonder if K mart is still open.

Still trying to hang all these lights

And finding the perfect tree

2 days till Christmas, there’s such a lot to do

Going out to parties

Wrapping all the presents

This place keeps getting messy

Why are we sending out so many cards

So very tired of shopping

They just keep arriving

KIDS OUT OF SCHOOL

Getting tired of cookies

What do you mean the pajamas are all sold out?

Get a flashlight I think I blew a fuse

And finding the perfect tree

1 day till Christmas, there’s such a lot to do

Making Christmas Dinner

Going out to parties

Anybody got a giftbag?

Stop making a mess!

Do we even know all these people?

Next year everyone gets gift cards

They’re your family, you deal with them

KIDS OUT OF SCHOOL

( Sobbing) So many cookies”

“ Everyone could use a new pair of socks on Christmas.”

“Oh, I give up you put em’ up yourself.”

EVERYONE SLOWLY SING And finding the perfect tree

Blogging to myself

After a very inspirational writers retreat in October I started a blog. I should explain first, that I am like the Helen keller of technology. I can learn, but it will take a special teacher and a lot of patience, but I was determined.
I learned how to add backgrounds, post pictures, and even put on little cutsie things that blink. Oh, I was feeling very clever. Then I realized what I couldn't figure out, how to tell anyone about it. Seems ridiculous,I know, but it is just so....me!
I emailed my tried and true adviser for such things, Lisa. She managed to figure out my blog address from a distance that I couldn't see right in front of me. Crisis averted, or so you would think, but here enters the world of procrastination and I put off invites for the day I wrote something profound. That took some time, I'm still waiting in fact.
I soon gave up on profound and went for timely, as in I wrote about this today it may not be good, but it's here. Unfortunately, in a wild inbox cleaning frenzy I managed to erase what she'd sent.
So I had just given up, deciding I would blog to myself until the day I could gain the key to my own blog address, or at least humble myself to ask for help again. Then I noticed this small envelope button on the bottom of my posts. Clicking on it, low and behold I found a way to send my words out and quit talking to myself. It was a long road and a rather embarrassing one, but welcome to my blog. I can't promise it will be anything life changing or even inspirational, but maybe just once in a while you will find something that makes you smile, and that is enough for me. Thank you for visiting and at least keeping me from talking to myself.

I found this amazing video on the Church website and just wanted to include it. I am the queen of procrastination, so this speaks to me.

A fun and easy Halloween activity for toddlers.

So, as many of you know I run a daycare and every year I have a different set of challenges as I shuffle kids in and out of the program. This year I find myself with mostly two and three year olds, which is fun, but their crafting abilities are limited. I came up with this really fun Halloween activity the other day turning their hand prints into bats. The kids really had a fun time and it was easy to do and to clean up which is a bonus.
It was very easy first you paint the childrens hands one at a time and have them press them on the paper. (I wipe their hands off with diaper wipes after we print them on the paper to avoid a mess.)Put them at an angle so they will look like wings. Then you paint or stencil a circle in the middle. I add little points at the top of the circle for ears.
When that is dry, I cut round circles for eyes and fangs out of white paper and glue them in place them use a sharpee to add pipils and a smile.
